Monday 7 September 2020
1.00pm to 6.00pm
Our annual Sports Fayre provides all students, but most importantly our #freshsaints, with the opportunity to browse the offerings from every AU Sports Club and wider partners/societies. Every club will be asked to provide representatives for their table and decorate it as they see fit (within reason!). Please ensure you have details for how people can get involved in your club.
Give it a Go
Monday 7 – Sunday 13 September 2020
An opportunity for all students to take part in the wide range of sports available at Saints Sport. The schedule will be released on social media in the run up to Orientation Week and on the University of St Andrews Orientation App. Your club will be asked to run the session and you should think about how you communicate with those who attend should they wish to train or play your sport moving forward.
Wednesday night (3-4 a semester)
Club 601, The Union
Saints Sport social events, once a month, in the Union. Time to be proud to be a Saint and celebrate with all your sports pals. Tickets are allocated according to membership numbers for each event, and spare tickets are reallocated or sold via the Sports Centre Reception. The AU Events Team will be in touch prior to every Sinners to confirm ticket numbers and pick-up times. Tickets are normally £3 but we usually host 2-3 charity Sinners each year in collaboration with other societies, these usually cost £4.
Dundee University and the University of St Andrews sports facilities
Our annual friendly varsity with the University of Dundee across a select number of sports (facility availability is the key factor in making this decision). A chance for teams to play a competitive game in the build up to a new season. Information about taking part in Varsity will usually be circulated during reaffiliation.
The Scottish Varsity Match between Scotland’s two oldest university rugby clubs dates back more than 160 years, and is believed to predate the annual Oxford versus Cambridge Varsity Match. Since 2015, the event has been hosted on the international pitch at BT Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh. It’s a great day out for everyone involved with Saints Sport.
Date TBC (Second Semester)
A time for all clubs to celebrate the season together. The night normally involves a two or three course meal and an opportunity to dress up and dance the night away. All clubs will be offered tickets for the event, in a similar capacity to sinners. One not to miss!
Date TBC (April 2021)
A chance for Clubs to invite their alumni back to ‘the bubble’ to reconnect with old friends and meet the current club members. Clubs are encouraged to support the Alumni weekend and make it a special occasion in the calendar. For help with growing your Alumni network, please speak to the AU Exec. Details are on the contacts page.
Date TBC (April 2021)
One of the top 7s tournaments in the Scottish rugby calendar and the largest student run 7s in the UK. Held at University Park, this is a weekend not to miss. The carnival atmosphere, watching great rugby, with plenty of food and drink vendors to keep your spirits high. Bring your friends, and don’t forget to get your hands on an after-party ticket. Run by the Rugby Club with more information available on their social media channels.
Jonny Wookey Memorial Varsity Match
Date TBC (April 2021)
Dundee Ice Arena
See the University of St Andrews Typhoons face the Edinburgh Eagles in the annual Jonny Wookey Memorial Varsity Ice Hockey Match. Tickets and transport information will be released on social media in the run up to this annual event.
22 April 2021
The big event in the sporting calendar. A chance for everyone involved in Sport at the University of St Andrews to reflect on the achievements of the season and to congratulate and thank those who have performed to the best of their ability both on and off the field of play. Clubs are encouraged to nominate using the criteria circulated for the various sports awards which fall under Experience, Engagement and Excellence. A great way to recognise achievements, please nominate those who deserve it, because without a nomination, the judges can’t pick them!
Boyd Quaich Memorial Golf Tournament

The Boyd Quaich is played over the Old and New courses in St Andrews. Founded in 1946 in memory of two St Andrews students who were killed during WWII, it is an international invitational competition to which universities from across the globe are invited to send two male competitors.
